Yesterday marked a special day for Portia DeRossi and Ellen Degeneres - their wedding day. Personally, I have little to say about the whole gay marriage business. I couldn’t helped but pester my good friend about this particular wedding though. There was a time when Portia was on the show “Alli McBeal” that my buddy had a huge crush on her. This was long before anyone knew about her sexual preference. I find it funny to rib him about this part of his past because he completely denies ever having a crush on her. This is a complete line of bull on his part and he totally knows it. Every time he denies the crush I insist it is time for my computer programming friend to get a memory upgrade because his is in serious decline.

Fads always seem to come and go but there are just some that I really miss. For example for a while it seemed like every celebrity was sporting a pair of cool eyeglasses. This made eyeglass wearers like myself feel very much “in”. Lately thought I don’t see many stars wearing them. I think that glasses always make people look more distinguished for some reason. For some people glasses even tend to add something to persona that you just can’t get with a pair of contacts. Please trend spotters of the world bring back eyeglasses and do it now!

There are days when the only thing that keeps me going is the fact that we have a signed contract to sell our home. On days like today when our neighbors kick their antics into high gear there is just not much about living in this house to enjoy. My skin is a wreck and I should probably get some Differin or something to make it look better but I haven’t. The thing that kills me is how when one set of idiots starts acting up that it seems to attract the other set of idiots to do the same thing. Before we know it both houses on either side of us are yelling and blasting their radios and acting like fools. Five weeks just five more weeks and I will hopefully be looking at this street in my rear view mirror.

The house we just looked at was approximately 2,000 square feet. This is bigger than any house I have ever lived in. While I really liked the house I just couldn’t imagine it feeling homey. There was so much space I felt like we would all get lost in our little areas and never connect as a family. This leads me to think about celebrity homes. How can you ever feel comfortable or connected to one another when you need 2 way radios to talk to each other from one end of the house to the other? Call me crazy but that isn’t my idea of “quality” family time.

Right now life is pretty mellow and I am only dreaming of what the coming weeks will be like. We have accepted a bid on our house and have started looking for a new one. I have to laugh when I see images of Ben Afleck and Jennifer Garner walking around the grounds of the $6 million dollar home they are in the process of building. You can just imagine all conversations taking place on Ben’s Bluetooth headset trying to determine what home theater system to install. Wouldn’t they just die if they were home shopping with me? My biggest concern is whether to spend money on an big but old home to dry the basement or settle for a smaller home with a dry basement.

After months and months of writing posts about wanting to move and sell our house we finally have an offer on it. You would think I would feel a certain sense of relief but the truth is now I am just worried that the sale won’t go through. I don’t know if the buyers can back out of a signed contract or not. We have a house inspection on Monday and then it seems like we should know exactly where we stand. It will be so good to be able to start putting things in boxes with some confidence that we really are going to be moving. Maybe then I my stress will decrease and my skin will clear up so I don’t have to keep spending money on acne remedies.

I just found out some really great news! I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it but the federal government finally did something wonderful for people like myself drowning in student loan debt. There are a couple of new programs but the one I am most excited about is the forgiveness program for public servants. Once enrolled in the program people employed in public service jobs will have the balance of their loans paid off after 10 years of payment. In my case this is savings of like $50,000.00 over the life of what would be my loan term. I am so excited I wish I had some promotional products to hand out and tell the world!

I don’t know whether it is having her parents back in her life or getting good psychological help but Britney Spears is starting to look like her old self. Something is working with her skin possibly a good acne scars cream or clean living? It is nice to see her legal woes behind her and her priorities more clear. I am sure her young boys are enjoying having some stability in their lives finally now that their parents have settled their custody dispute. Hopefully, there are some promising things to come for this pop star yet and we aren’t all forced to revisit yet another train wreck in her career. Who will I write about if that notion did become a reality?
